Wendouree Car Service Centre (WCSC) is an approved noise tester accredited by the E.P.A (environment protection authority). We are the only accredited testers in the area.
EPA approved noise testers are an important link in providing a peaceful and acceptable environment for Victorians. Approved noise testers are people appointed by the protection authority with the responsibility for testing vehicles for noise for the EPA.
We can only test vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes & motorcycles.
These vehicles have been reported by members of the Victorian Police or officers of EPA as being noisy or having a faulty exhaust.
Due to increased time and labour involved in testing you will need to book vehicle in and leave with us for a couple of hours. Vehicle will require an inspection of the exhaust system on the hoist to ensure it complies with regulations. A number of photos will be taken of exhaust system and vehicle then uploaded to server for future reference. A vehicle will fail test if any part of exhaust has been removed or altered to pass test. If a vehicle fails first test a charge of $55 will apply and vehicle will need to be repaired and rebooked for another test.
EPA Noise Tests cost $130.00 including GST
The owners of these vehicles are required by legal notice to present their vehicle to an approved tester and obtain a certificate before a specified date. Approved testers conduct a stationary exhaust noise test on the vehicle to determine if the vehicle complies with the Environment Protection (vehicle emissions) Regulations2003.
When the vehicle complies with the regulations, the noise tester can issue a certificate of compliance to the person presenting the vehicle.
A test can’t be carried out if raining.
Owners who fail to lodge that certificate with EPA can be fined and have their vehicles registration suspended.
